Almost 2 years ago, I met someone who would, over this time period, become my best friend. He would have marathon phone conversations with me, let me cry when I needed it and more importantly, show me what it means to love unconditionally.
This holiday, he celebrated his first Christmas with me–as my boyfriend, best friend and man of my dreams. Never has any man “come home for Christmas” and this year, the person with whom I spent the holiday will be the one I spend it with for many years to come. 1 year and 279 days later, he and I have seen each other in a new way and I don’t think I have ever been as happy as I have been in the past couple weeks. He isn’t afraid to tell me how he feels and he gives me a confidence that I have never experienced. He gives me faith in love and hope for our future. He does this without expecting anything in return yet his feelings only act as a catalyst for me to give him all of the same.
In addition to him being the greatest man of all time, he also successfully survived Christmas Eve with my entire family, a dinner with them Christmas Day, a day of golf with my dad and New Year’s Eve with my friends from high school. We have successfully begun melding our lives and sometimes I have to take a step back to see how far we have come.
He is truly the love of my life and still the man that is my best day.
