Note to My Future

The following is something that I look forward to experiencing with the person that I will spend the rest of my life with. We will go through everything—big and small—together. And we will appreciate all of those things, no matter how big or small, because we know what it means to be without each other, despite understanding that we will never face that uncertainty again.

You will have notes waiting for me. Inside awaits your thoughts that only I get to hear. Little surprises like that are totally you. You will grab my hand when we drive and immediately hold my heart with your touch. You will have entrusted me with the most precious of gifts—your own heart and I will promise to care for it, as you and I grow to become one.

You will know the ways to my heart because you are the only one who holds the key. I will always be your rock. You will have let me into your soul where no one else is allowed and I will be that support for you, even when you may not think you need it. But we will know everything about each other, from the deepest secrets to the most basic of information. You will even know that my favorite scrapbook line is Basic Grey.

The things we share will feel much bigger than they may seem. You will wake me up on a random morning before work and greet me with a kiss and a tray of French toast and an omelette. We will sit on the bed and enjoy it together. I will catch you making the bed and watch you from the doorway, the feeling of knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with you almost bringing tears of joy to my face. We will sit at the kitchen counter and eat our dinner, while sharing what is on our minds.

There will be times when you will have to work and I will want your attention. Despite wanting to curl up with me, you will make sure that you take care of your responsibilities, all while keeping me in your mind. You will make me feel like I’m the most important thing in your life even when we aren’t together. Even when the time comes for you to go to work, you will surprise me by lighting candles and making me a bubble bath with my favorite sugar scrubs on the edge of the tub. At the end of a long day, you will reach for me, pulling me so close I can bury myself in your neck and you will whisper that you love me. I will gently kiss your cheek and tell you that I love you too.

The time will come when I get tears in my eyes at the thought of being away from you and you will hold me tight. If I get scared, you will hold me even tighter and tell me it’s going to be ok. You won’t be afraid of my tears but instead see another part of me that no one else knows about and we will find small victories in learning more about each other.

We will say everything to each other and words may not even be necessary because we will be on a path that leads to two souls growing into one heart. I will let you know that you are absolutely the man of my dreams and I will love you with all that is in me. When this day comes, know that I have been waiting for you and my most cherished treasures will be shared only with you.

With a Shakespearean twist

I have this friend. He is pretty much one of the most hilarious people I know.  CatScan, as he has recently been named, cracks me up til I no longer feel the need to do ab workouts because I have laughed so hard. Not that there is a need to convince me NOT to do ab workouts. CatScan also happens to be the same friend who I recently took shopping (now that was funny.) Most of the comedy happens when we make fun of each other but there are also times when his cleverness just tickles me. Like today for instance. I received the following text message from him:

CatScan: Very good…I shall do this call you later thing of which you speak. I am also planning on talking like Shakespeare the rest of the night. Maybe the rest of the week. FYI.

I think to myself, ‘of course Shakespeare because talking like Shakespeare is a natural choice when making linguistic selections.’

Fast forward 6 hours later when I received this text after informing him that I finally got some ravioli and malfatti that I had been craving from my favorite liquor store yes it’s a liquor store that makes them. They are delicious-flavored:

CatScan: I was hoping you would get thine Italian vittles. I was thinking of that whilest I slept.

Me: Easy Shakespeare.

CatScan: Hark! What sarcasm through yonder crackberry breaks! Tis the Smooth with the correct spelling of mine ego of alternativeness.

Yep. That’s how we roll.

Happy Big Game Week!

It’s Big Game Week! Hooray! Napa is playing Vintage on Friday night and I’m covering the Little Big Game (that’d be the JVs) for the newspaper.

If Napa wins on Friday night, they will be the sole MEL champion so it’s kind of a big deal. I bought my ticket last week. Memorial Stadium will be at capacity and I.LOVE.EVERY.MINUTE.OF.IT. There is so much electricity in the air that night. So fun…

The local paper also does articles every night previewing different aspects of Big Game…last night’s article was pretty good. It was filled with trivia and stats and I think we all know how I feel about stats.  And also in honor of Big Game XXXVI, here is an interview with the head coach

UPDATE: There is a Big Game Quiz. Shut your mouth, I’m serious! Test your Big Game knowledge here

How low can you go?

Nope, that is not a limbo reference. That is in reference to my new favorite commercial. Yes, it’s a McDonalds commercial hey sometimes a woman craves some french fries from mickey d’s, what of it?

But this kid in the commercial cracks me up.

It also makes me wonder whatever happened to that little girl who was in all the Missy Elliott videos back in the day. That small child was equally as hilarious and could dance better than anyone I know.
