Since my favorite time of year is upon us that’d be Bowl Season, not Christmas I thought I would take the time to let everyone know my Bowl Watching Schedule for the next few weeks. Special thanks to Terry Bowden for compiling said schedule.
Emerald Bowl: Florida State vs. UCLA
Dec. 27, 5pm ESPN. Let’s see–who do I pull for here? The Pac-10 school that once screwed me or the team that’s burgundy and gold with helmets like that of the Napa Indians. Intriguing way to go about it, don’t you think? What else do I have to do on a Wednesday night?
Meineke Car Care Bowl: Navy vs. Boston College
Dec. 30, 10am ESPN. Both teams are 9-3. Since I don’t know much about either team, I plan on just kicking back and enjoying the show.
Chick-fil-A Bowl: Georgia vs. Virginia Tech
Dec. 30, 5pm ESPN. I always love watching the games when teams from the southeast battle it out. Not sure why, I just do.
Gator Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. West Virginia
Jan. 1, 10am CBS. This one’s easy. Besides the fact that my brother ran security during the WVU season, I have to go for the Moutaineers. Ever since Joe moved there I have been paying more attention to them so here’s another chance.
Rose Bowl: USC vs. Michigan
Jan. 1, 2pm ABC. Go Michigan. I’m over SC. That’s all.
Orange Bowl: Wake Forest vs. Louisville
Jan. 2, 5pm FOX. Besides it being the only bowl game of the day, the Orange Bowl was something I always grew up watching. Not sure how that came to be, but why break tradition now, eh?
Sugar Bowl: Notre Dame vs. LSU
Jan. 3, 5pm FOX. OK, this is a hard one. I have the Irish I’m wondering if it’s a sin to root against them being that my name is MARY COLLEEN and my new found team the LSU Tigers. First of all, I have to say that I wish I could ALWAYS tailgate with Tiger fans. They are awesome and they make killer food. You have two good offensives matching up here but then you get a little lopsided in the defensive match up. I’m torn. Although Brady Quinn is pretty good looking…
BCS championship: Florida vs. Ohio State
Jan. 8, 5pm FOX. I’m still a little bitter about this–I thought we were somehow sponsoring this game (aka sponsors usually get tickets) and I’m watching it from the comfort of my house. Boo. At any rate, I am rooting for the Gators. The quarterback match up will be interesting with Heisman winner Troy Smith, but Florida has that whole tag-team approach with Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. Still might be rough for the Gators. We’ll see. I’m just glad Florida is playing against Ohio St., seeing as how the whole BCS system is messed up anyway, but don’t get me started.
Anyway, there my “schedule” for the bowl games and I might mix in a little work in there, but I make no promises.
